Kubaton Self Defense Class

CMMC, LLC offered a free Kubaton self defense class to all ladies associated with our ”Tenant Team Members”. The class was held Thursday, October 22, 2009 in the Detyens Shipyards, Inc. conference room.
A Kubaton (pictured below) is a self defense weapon attached to a key chain and is an extremely effective method of ”leveling the playing field” when attacked by a larger or stronger opponent and an excellent weapon for women.
Mr. Jerry Roberts was the instructor for the class. Mr. Roberts is retired from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department with 28 years of service. Mr. Roberts is currently Captain of the Tri County area State Constables and is a statewide authorized trainer of State Constables. Mr. Roberts was assisted by Mr. Gene Coon, General Manager of CMMC Security and a retired United States Marshal with 28 years service.
The class was attended by Aimee Sigmon, Tracey Parham, Eileen Joye, Joyce Dunlap, Denise Oliver, Janilee Cheskey and Jennie Qualls. The class was very informative as well as fun. All of the ladies participated in practicing the techniques, asking questions and seemed to really enjoy the class. The instructors were very well versed in their subject and more than happy to answer any questions.
Special thanks goes to Mr. Roberts and Mr. Coon for offering their valuable time free of charge and also Detyens Shipyards, Inc. for the use of their conference room.
Mr. Roberts conducts this class free of charge. If you know anyone interested in having a class, please contact him at robberj@bellsouth.net.
