About CMMC

CMMC, LLC is owned and operated by D. Loy Stewart, Dick Gregory and Danny Rowland.  CMMC, LLC was formed in 1993 for the purpose of privatizing the Charleston Naval Base facilities, which were targeted for closure by the Department of Defense.  CMMC formed a business plan that proposed several smaller companies to support each other and to be a one stop shop for manufacturing and ship repair companies.

In November of 1999, CMMC, LLC entered into a 30 year lease for numerous buildings, piers and drydocks that were located at the former Shipyard and Naval Station. In July of 2005, CMMC purchased the Shipyard from the City of North Charleston and in turn, CMMC leases this property to various entities. The largest companies in the CMMC footprint are Detyens Shipyards, Inc., Excel Apparatus, Inc. and the Urban Electric Company. There are an additional 30+ companies that are located in facilities that are leased from CMMC.
